J. Christopher Erb is an attorney and principal with the Erb Law Firm, PC. His primary practice areas include corporate transactional law for international and domestic corporations, as well as privacy law/data security and internet law issues.
Chris graduated from the Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA, and has completed additional coursework at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic and Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. He has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University, and prior to law school was systems administrator and engineer with a technical documentation firm in Munich, Germany. He is also a graduate of Devon Preparatory School, Devon PA.
After law school, Chris joined Dechert LLP in Philadelphia as an associate, where he worked on a domestic and international litigation and discovery matters. He left Dechert for the international practice group of Reed Smith Shaw & McClay. There he structured and formed corporations, drafted contracts and agreements, advised on both inbound and outbound international trade and transactions, advised on computer and e-commerce matters, and prepared and filed business visa petitions.
Chris speaks fluent German, and is a director and officer of the German-American Chamber of Commerce. Chris is also a member of the American Bar Association International and Business Law Sections, with a focus on business, intellectual property, and cyberspace law, as well as the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Chris is an adjunct faculty member at the Temple University School of Law, where he teaches Advising the Global Corporation. He also designed and previously taught the law school's course on Business Immigration Law. He has also published and presented on a number of different topics, including guest lecturing for the Drexel University Arts Administration Graduate Program.
Chris is a hockey (both field and ice) and soccer dad, and spends a lot of time working in the corner of a cold ice rink or his car during practices. In his spare time, such as it is, Chris enjoys hiking and aspires to return to the guitar and bicycling he enjoyed pre-children. Chris also enjoys trying new and interesting beers - local, German, or otherwise, and he's working on his Spanish and, from time to time, Polish skills. Find out more about Chris's interests here.
