Garrett Spangler
Garrett C. Spangler, a native of Philadelphia, is an associate with The Erb Law Firm, PC. His primary practice area is tax law, with a specific focus on estate planning, probate and estate administration, elder law, and gift tax planning. In addition, he dedicates a portion of his practice to corporate and internet law issues.
Garrett earned his J.D. and LL.M (Masters in Taxation) from Temple University School of Law where his area of concentration was tax and business law. While in law school he was honored with Distinguished Class Performance in the Business Law clinical course, providing community members with legal services through the Temple Small Business Center. He also served as an intern to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, authoring summaries published by the Court for the Commerce Court Case Management Opinion Project. Inducted as a member of Temple’s Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society in recognition of his outstanding community service, Garrett continues to stay involved in the community by providing free tax preparation to qualified individuals with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and volunteering with Philly VIP. His efforts were recently recognized by The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania for his exemplary commitment to pro bono representation of low income individuals in the greater Philadelphia area.
A graduate of Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business, Garrett spent time negotiating contracts and handling regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical industry for Advanced Biologics, as well as working with clients as a financial advisor for American Express prior to returning to law school. While finishing his law degrees he served as a law clerk under the Honorable Albert J. Cepparulo at the Court of Common Pleas of Bucks County in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Before joining The Erb Law Firm, Garrett also worked with Dechert, LLP in Philadelphia as a consultant attorney on various matters.
In addition to his law practice, Garrett is an adjunct faculty member of Delaware Valley College, also located in Doylestown. There he teaches Corporate Taxation and Federal Income Taxation to the college’s business and accounting students.
Garrett is a member of the bars of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Outside of his professional career Garrett enjoys spending time hiking and camping with his wife and young son. He is also an avid golfer and takes pleasure in engaging with computer technology.
